Spoke too soon....

48 hours after Gabs' last sickness, she threw up in her crib again Friday night :(  It's now Sunday afternoon and she has been ok since then, so hopefully it is actually over it now.  She is on an all carb diet until Tuesday morning though, regardless.  Oy.

She has her eye doctor check up on Tuesday, so that will be interesting to hear what they have to say.  She's had her glasses for three months now (seems like forever, though!) so they're going to reassess and see how her prescription is doing.

Her are a few pictures while painting about a week ago!

And then I did a quick little french braid in her hair :) It's actually an easy and cute way to keep her hair up!

Yuck!

Well, another milestone [unfortunately] hit - Gabrielle's first stomach bug.  And boy was it a doozy.  The craziness started last week when I had to work Friday, and Gabi's daycare called the night before because her daughter was sick.  Well, luckily Grandma Billie was available and willing to take G the next day.  Whew!

Monday was my only day off the next week, so I wanted to do something special with Gabrielle and took her to the new play place in EL....I'm pretty sure that's where the sickness came from.  That night my sitter called again and said her other child was now having symptoms of illness, so I called my friend Danielle and she was available and willing to take G the next day.  Whew again.

While I was a work the next day, though, Danielle texted me in the afternoon and said Gabi had thrown up.  Darn.  But she seemed to be in good spirits and eating again.  Nick picked her up at regular time and she seemed to be energetic and normal the whole evening.  At about 10:30pm we heard Gabi coughing and getting sick all over her crib; all over everything.

I had to work the next day and really can't just not show up, so Nick stayed up with her that night and the next day while I was at work.  Gabi and Nick slept together on the bathroom floor and he took care of her - he really deserves the dad of the year award for what he dealt with!  She seemed to be doing a bit better the next day so Nick took her to Meijer to get some stuff for dinner.  Bad idea - Gabi threw up all over Nick at Meijer.  Being the great dad he is - he could tell she was about to get sick so he just picked her up and let her puke all over him.  Now that says love.

She didn't eat much that evening except for a bite or two of cracker which didn't stay down long.  She went to bed and got sick all of over her bed again and then some.  I had talked to my work and they were able to get someone  to take my day the next day so I stayed up with Gabs that night and slept in the bathroom with her.  That was the last time Gabi got sick.....thanks goodness!!

Well, then I heard Nick start getting sick about 11pm and that lasted all night.  By about 10am the next day he felt better and just relaxed/slept the rest of the day.  Gabrielle was a sleepy little lump the whole day.  She just laid on my lap and snacked on a few things throughout the day.  I think we are definitely better now, and somehow it seems that I didn't get it.  Nick did deal with the vast majority of the puke so maybe that really did him in.  Poor guy.

And, Gabi's daycare lady always makes yummy things and she made pumkin bread last week.  Well, my mommy guilt took over so I made pumpkin bread for her on Saturday too :)

2 1/4 Years

  • Yeah, I'm kind of grasping at straws here, but I wanted to write a bit about what is going on with Gabrielle right now. I'm about to start a new contract job that will keep me quite busy for the next few months, so I need to write in here while I can!
  • Gabrielle is over the Bubble Guppies :( I'm not sure if she's really totally over it, but when I give her a choice to watch a TV show she has picked Fresh Beat Band every time for the past couple of weeks. The show has four "teenagers" [they really could be like 25, who knows] that sing and dance. Gabrielle copies some of the dance moves and hums along. When they hit high notes Gabs closes her eyes and screeches as a loud as she can, haha.
  • And it kind of hit me last time I was at Target and walked through the toy isles; my kid would seriously love just about everything there. Before it was kind like eh, she's probably like anything someone got her. Now she LOVES her baby dolls and every accessory that could possibly go with them. I finally got her birthday gifts with Uncle Greg's Toys R Us gift card - I picked out a baby car seat and shopping cart to "shop" with and she loved them! She goes "grocery shopping" in our pantry and fills up her cart :)  She likes dolls, Dora, Olivia, Hello Kitty, animal toys, fish anything....everything!
  • She loves music and dancing.  I honestly think she will be into music and/or dancing.  She just recently starting singing to songs.  They're songs she has listened to forever, but her little brain finally caught up and can sing along to some of the words too!
  • She hasn't let me read her books in quite a while...she has to read them.  She looks at the pictures and describes what is going on and turns the pages.
  • I think she is becoming just about fluent in English....haha.  But no really, I feel like she is talking more like a real person instead of toddler gibberish.  She usually really likes to talk and we can rarely shut her up.

  • The past three days Gabrielle has ASKED to go on the potty and proceeded to do her #2 for the day [even when we were at Jason and Corinne's house].  Pretty exciting stuff.  I'm still not pushing potty training, but come April it will be underwear for her!

Winter Shminter

This winter has been pretty amazing [I'm assuming I can go ahead and make that statement and we won't have snow in June].  There have been plenty of 40ish+ degree days where we can head outside and play pretty comfortably.  Well, Gabs is beyond comfortable and I'm a bit chilly.  I usually have to eventually bribe her to come inside with TV or M&Ms.  Don't judge.

I went with Gabs and Nick to her sports class this past Saturday, and let me tell you I won't be doing that again.  Gabrielle had a ridiculous case of the "mommy whines".  OMG....she cried, she wanted me to hold her, she didn't want to participate.....no good.  Honestly, though, that was half the time.  The other half she ran around, smiled, and did what she was supposed to like a normal kid.  Nick said she did fabulous the entire time the first time when it was just him, so I will not going again which is fine :)

And I did have a minor freak out yesterday that my baby girl could be starting her first big girl dance class at a studio in 7 months.  Yep 7.  Crazy.  I need to look into it this summer, but most studios begin kids at 2.5/3 years old which Gabi will be at the beginning of the dance year this fall.  Wow!!
