Lake Weekend
We spent the weekend at the lake with our friends Katie and Neal, and their son Emmett who is about two months younger than Gabrielle. I think everyone had fun and the kids had a ball "playing" together. At this age, mostly kiddos just play "next" to each other rather than with each other most of the time, but they are getting more and more interactive. I love hanging out with our friends that don't have kids, but socializing with people that have children really is easier/less stressful a lot of the time. It isn't easier because you have two nap schedules to deal with, twice the chance of a melt down at any given moment, etc.....but if our kid chucks a crayon across the room, throws a temper tantrum, or decides it's time to take a poop in the middle of dinner....it's a bit less stressful because you know your friends who have kids don't even think twice.
Both of the kids were really good and had fun in the water. They collected rocks and dug in the sand. They both enjoyed a slow boat ride (Gabrielle sans life jacket, of course....ekk) and Emmett loved to go fast.....Gabs, not so much. They both took turns driving the boat with Nick and learned to honk the horn. The four of us thoroughly enjoyed nap time and after the kids went to bed :) Keeping track of two crazy one year olds in a three story house on a lake is no easy task.
Oh....and I THOUGHT we actually de-pacifiered Gabs. I only packed one paci and come to find out, it was all chewed and mangled...and not usable. So she went without a paci nap (cried), night (cried), nap (actually rocked her to sleep), night (didn't even cry)......then she woke up at 4:00am screaming her head off because she probably wanted a paci and couldn't find one. I went in there and shoved one in her mouth. I need to commit. Ugh, not sure about giving this another try, but I need to.
Anyways, here are some pics from our weekend.

Gabrielle is continuing her "mommy's/daddy's" phase. It's getting a bit ridiculous. Everything she can possibly point to is either daddy's or mommy's......gas can, lawn mower, boat, PS3, and generator are all "daddy's". The vacuum, computer, and camera are"mommy's". She also knows whose shoes, cars, sunglasses, phones, clothes, and bags are whose.
She is getting more words all the time. I can't even keep track. A few new ones I remember are girl, boat, go, cold, up please, poop, and pee. The last two she learned tonight when I so intelligently put her straight into the bath tub right after we got done with our mexican black bean dinner. It happened for the first time - she pooped in the tub. I freaked and yelled for Nick. He basically cleaned the whole [huge] mess up while I gave Gabi a shower in the other bathroom. Eww.
And we got the results of her blood tests back all looks pretty good. Everything they tested for looked perfectly within range except her BUN which has to do with kidney function. It should be within 5-15 and hers was 18. Her pedi wasn't too worried about it because it was just a slight increase and her Creatinine levels (which have to do with kidney function too) were totally normal. She suggested getting her BUN level redrawn in a month, but I'm not sure if we will do it or not. The doctor said her blood levels look very good, especially because she says most toddlers have a least a few things a bit out of whack. Gabs is just as healthy as we thought!

She's going to be petite...
Gabrielle went in for her weight check follow up since she lost weight at her 18 month appointment. Well, Gabi gained 8 ounces in about a month....but that was just enough to keep her in the 6th percentile for weight at 19 months :/ She grew a half inch so she was 32 inches (48th %) and 21 lb 4 oz (6th %). The doctor ended up seeing her and doing a full physical - everything appears normal, healthy, and great. She has to get some blood work to check iron, thyroid, and few other basic things to be sure nothing is off track, but that's it. The doc said she just might be on a new growth curve - she just might be showing that she really will be petite. Who knows. She stayed freakishly steady around the 25th % her whole life, and then suddenly dropped to the 6th. Hopefully there's no good reason.
In the waiting room at her pedi.....
I told the doctor my list of explanations and she seemed to think they made sense.
-Suddenly Gabs won't eat peanut butter, yogurt, or bananas anymore to name a few.
-She is a very active child. She doesn't watch TV, and doesn't sit and play with toys for more than a few minutes a day.
-To add on to that...she walks laps outside around our block for fun. I think she would push her baby stroller around the block and play on her play structure all day if we let her.
So there you have it. I'm sure she's fine. Just "skinny". Ha! You would never tell from looking at her that she is "underweight". She's perfectly plump! On her lab slip the diagnosis said "FTT". Failure to thrive. I know they have to put a diagnosis, but really??
Anyway, here are a few pictures of course! Does she look malnourished and failing to thrive to you?? :)

Oh, so tired!

Are you buying it??

Haha! Ok, never mind!

And Gabrielle got a new Tinkerbell cup. She likes to drink milk out of straws. Ok. She picked out a Tinkerbell cup....it was $6! Goodness.

Look at those eyes! They could be little twins laying together!

Father's Day - Family Weekend
We had quite the weekend this weekend. On Saturday we had a late lunch with Nick's family, and then went to Best Buy and Toy's R Us (Gabrielle got a koosh ball and her first real doll). We got home and Gabi and I went over to her [nighttime] babysitter's open house. Then Gabi, Nick, and I walked all the way downtown for ice cream, drinks, and mexican food.......then walked all the way home. Sunday we met my parents for brunch, played outside, and made a yummy dinner. Nick cooked Father's Day dinner - he usually cooks on Sundays, so he didn't want to break the tradition. Awesome :)
This little girl is lucky to have such a great daddy!
Even though it was Father's Day, I couldn't get left out of the picture action :)
She decided she wanted to makes some driveway art too....
I'm pretty sure this will be able to be a tunic top next summer......her 12-18 month size dress goes down to her ankles!
Dad taught her how to drink out of the hose and that was like the coolest thing ever....
And once she was done with the water, she had to take her matching stroller out for a walk :)

And later in afternoon it was time to get in the pool! Right now, Gabs is more interested in the hose than pool, but that's fine. She just kept saying "ho ho ho!!!"
