We are 38 weeks along and due two weeks from today! We made it to full term (a week ago!) so little one is welcome to arrive any time she likes. Really nothing much new - I'm pretty boring. I'm still having consistent
braxton hicks contractions which are uncomfortable, and random aches and pains. I get so
frustrated going to the doctor all the time because everything I tell them about/ask them about is "normal" and they don't ever DO anything...just send me on my way. They say when the contractions start to hurt and are closer together or my water breaks to go to the hospital. Yup, got it. Thanks. My doctors never check dilation or anything unless there seems to be a problem so I have no idea if I've made any real progress or not. Not that it matters really, and that's why they don't check - people can walk around dilated to 3 cm for weeks or you can go into labor without being dilated previously at all. This waiting game is just getting annoying, which isn't good because it's really just started! We're
ok, though. I'm thankful the baby is still healthy and seems to be doing well, and I am healthy also. That's really all you can ask for!
Well, work is stressing me out a bit too. As you know, there has been lots of uncertainty with my job (the whole college in general, really) for about the past year. I made it through the first round of layoffs this past summer, but my boss informed me a couple of weeks ago that my position didn't get approved in the budget as of January 1, 2010. So now I'm working on more of a transition plan rather than a maternity leave plan. I'm still thinking I'll work right up until I have the baby, and when I go into labor I'll just be done...kind of weird. The plan is that I will stay home with the baby until I find a new job or I go to school full time. Really, it is a good thing and we are lucky that we are able to have that luxury. I need to leave that job and get back to doing what I went to school for. Throughout all of the reorganizations the past couple of years, my position has morphed into something so different than what I was hired for that it is really time to go!
Alright, enough drama - here is an update of baby - as you can tell, she is running out of room!
