Happy 28 Nicky!!! My man is now on his way to 30, hahaha. Anyway, we had such a good weekend. I stepped into the "world of Nick" for about 48 hours - I came out tired, bloated, and poor....but it was fun :) Saturday morning I dropped Gabrielle off at Jason and Corinne's about noon. They were headed to the lake this weekend, so they were nice enough to drive her over there (and help with her all weekend). We really haven't left Gabrielle for more than an evening in about a year I think, so I really didn't know how she was going to do. We would talk about it beforehand and I'd tell her that she was going to the lake (papa's house, as she calls it) and that would go swimming and have fun with Grandma and Grandpa. She'd get all excited and say "Bobby go papa's house! And mommy go! Daddy go!". I'd tell her no mommy and daddy aren't going, just Gabi. Gab would get this worried look and start to tear up. She knew....so I didn't bring up that daddy and mommy weren't going, I just got her excited about swimming.
So I dropped her and her arsenal of belongings off with Jason, and Nick and I headed to to the east side. We stopped at the outlet malls to do some shopping. Of course, Gabrielle ended up with the most stuff but we got a few things too. Everything at Old Navy was 40% off, so G got some long sleeved shirts and leggings for $4 each and PJs for fall. And by the way, how is my baby wearing size 2t?? Doesn't seem possible....
We then went to dinner at Famous Dave's and some great BBQ. Then it was off to check into our hotel and meet our friends at Dave & Buster's. Marc and Sarah went out with us and we had a BLAST! I think Nick and I ended up with 3800 tickets or something?? I don't even want to know how much $$ we spent though....those games in combination with cocktails can be addicting :)
The next day we went to Buffalo Wild Wings for lunch and then headed to Greektown to check into our next hotel. The bed in that hotel was THE most comfortable ever! It kind of made coming home to our own bed a bummer, haha. We got Coldstone ice cream and walked around the city - luckily the Jazz Fest was going on so there were some cool things to do. We went to dinner that night - tuna sushi rolls and flaming Greek cheese for appetizers, and then I had lake perch and Nick had filet oscar for dinner. Yum. After dinner we went to the Tiger's game and they kicked some major White Sox booty. What a great weekend!
And I'm so happy to say that Gabrielle did wonderful this weekend....at least that is what is claimed by the family! She wasn't whiny, clingy, or naughty. She got with only a split lip, which is pretty predictable and something that she's done before. I really had no idea what to expect, so I'm so happy that she was a good girl and easy on everyone! I think she really had fun too - Jason and Corinne drove her back to their house, so when we went to pick her up she really was indifferent. She was eating a bowl of raisins and chasing the kitties! She's such a good little girl, I'm so proud of her.
It seems like Nick's birthday brought fall/winter though! Brrr. I'm glad I got a good head start on getting cold weather clothes for Gabrielle because she needs them now. I bought her a nice winter coat for like $7 on sale at the end of last season for this year (2t) and it has a nice fleece/fall jacket that can zip out, so she wore that yesterday and today!

And I made cupcakes for Nick's birthday - Rainbow Chip, of course. And I'd love to tell you they all came out perfectly like this.....

And this.....

But some of mine turned out like this :/

But they still seemed to pass the taste test with everyone :)

I finally packed up all of the really "baby" toys. Nick couldn't believe that the whole box was full of things basically for babies 3-12 months....but yep. Sure is. I even added a few more things after I took this picture.

And here a few other random pictures from the past week or so. You can tell it was soooo much warmer last week :/

Gabrielle got her toes painted for the first time! She did really well....it was soooo hard not to touch the paint when it was wet, but she did great.

She was yelling the whole time I took these pictures "Ya ya pi-pehs!!! Shoes! Ah-see!!!" which means "no pictures - shoes - outside". Hahahaha.......

Her hair is absolutely crazy.
