Patching and New Lenses

Today we went back to the eye doctor (about 1 month after her 4 year check) because she has been having a lot of eye turning and some double vision with her glasses on the past couple of weeks.  They did a dilation this time and found that her deficit is basically the same as they first diagnosed (about +7.5 and +5.5) when she turned two.  During the exam, though, they found that she was only seeing 20/70 with her right eye with glasses ON, and 20/25 with her left.  That poor of vision and such a difference between the eyes caused some big concern. 

They ordered new lenses for her, going from a 3.5 in each eye to a 4.0 and 4.25 or 4.50 I believe.  She also patches two hours per day to strengthen her right eye.  Even though her deficit is the same, for whatever reason her brain needs more support from the glasses to focus than before.  She did great with her patching today and already got her sticker on her chart for the day!  She goes back to her OD for a check in one month, and then has her Ped Opth appointment in Grand Rapids in January.
