Pregnancy symptoms are pretty much the same - braxton hicks contractions with some pain mixed in. I went to the doctor today and they actually checked me *GASP*! I must have looked semi-pathetic as well as a little bit psycho/hormonal, so they agreed to check my progress. Turns out that I'm 75% effaced and 1-2 centimeters dilated. She said that things seemed to be progressing well so just more waiting. In the past few days I noticed that the baby had dropped and she said that the belly is measuring noticeably smaller and lower as well - not that you can tell in this week's pictures - I still appear to be a large, puffy, baby growing machine but that is partly due to the dinner of sloppy joes and tater tots eaten about a half hour before these were taken :)
For your amusement, I also had two stupid stranger comments this week.
1. I was at work and went to the cafeteria to get lunch. I was paying for my food and the girl who was taking the money was like "Oh you're pregnant - that's so cool - when are you due?" I reply "Thank you, November 9th, blah blah blah" then she proceeds to point at my stomach and ask "So, was that all planned or...?"
REALLY? Do we need to be having this conversation as I'm just trying to pay for my Taco Bell?? I managed to get the dumbfounded look off my face that someone had actually asked me that and say something to the regard of "Yes, my husband and I are really excited".
2. My friend Jess and I were at the mall this weekend and I wanted to get a top for after I had the baby. Since I'm currently a large, puffy, baby-growing machine, Jess tried on the top for me so I could get an idea of how big it was and how it fit. Ok, looks good. Decide to purchase it. Go up to the counter to pay for it and the girl asks me "Is this for you?" I think to myself, this isn't really any of your business but reluctantly reply "Yes" and the sales girl proceeds to ask "Well, did YOU try it ON?" Again, dumbfounded, I don't even know what I said to her...something in the realm of "No, I'm getting it for after I have my baby in a few weeks" or something.
Oh my. Well, that's enough for tonight. Hopefully this will be the last pregnancy post but we'll just have to wait and see!
