1 Year Stats

Gabrielle went to her one year check-up yesterday at the doctor and things look good!

Weight: 19lbs 1oz (17th percentile)
Height: 29 inches (23rd percentile)
Head: 18.5 inches (92nd percentile)

Yes, her head is finally slowing down a little bit in growth!  I believe at her 9 month check it was still in the 97th percentile.  She's still a pretty tiny thing, but the doctor didn't seem worried.  These have basically been her proportions her whole life so far.  Her weight is down a bit, but with walking being the newest and coolest thing ever, that can happen.

I had to answer a big five page evaluation of Gabi, just like at her six month check.  She passed everything with flying colors and was basically at or above the level on everything they wanted to see.  Yay!  The language of a one year old is so abstract that it is very hard to measure.  Gabi can understand and follow lots of verbal directions without motion cues (it's crazy really how MUCH she can understand), she points and says gibberish, has a few words we *think* she says and means the actual meaning but we aren't quite sure ("dat" for that, "hi", "dada", "dawa" for dog.  All of that is right where a one year should typically fall so I'm glad we didn't get scolded because G doesn't say any words incredibly clear and distinct.  All of her social, problem solving, and motor skills were very good so I was relieved that there isn't anything we're behind in.  Awesome!

Her teeth are coming in in bunches now.  It's such a jumble I don't even know exactly where they are all at.
Cut through: bottom left central incisor, both top lateral incisors, top left central incisor
On the verge of cutting through: bottom right central incisor and top right central incisor

That is a total approximation because of course little G won't ever let me look in her mouth.  I have to catch her when she is laughing or something to quickly peek in there.

And a quick follow up to her birthday.....typically she should have taken a nap around the time everyone left.  Well, before she would even consider a nap every single person had to leave the house.....and then she pretty much didn't nap.  She slept for maybe 30 minutes or so - definitely not long enough for even a normal day let alone such an exciting day!  She was pretty awful/tired the rest of the day and ended up going to bed early.  Only she didn't go to bed early....we thought she did, but then she woke up crying about 45 minutes later.  omg.  Finally she went to sleep for the night and actually slept in a *little* bit the next day.

The next day she was ALL about her new toys!  She was the happiest little thing ever playing with her new toys and carrying her new clothes around.  She took a good morning nap but then failed to eat or sleep the rest of the day without me forcing the issue.  No afternoon nap and she didn't even want to eat!  She was so into all of her new stuff was busy busy the whole day.  Finally it was 6:00pm and I just put her in her high chair and started feeding her.  She ended up eating SO much food once she started.  She just kept finishing everything and wanting more.  I think she actually forgot to eat that day....who would of thought we'd ever see the day.  After she was finally full it was back to playing until it hit 8:30 and I just put her in her crib.  She went right to sleep without a peep.  What a sweetie.

Yesterday was my last day of work that is booked right now.  WOO HOO!!!  Work opportunities will be pretty light the next couple of months, as companies don't schedule many clinics around the holidays.  Now I can focus on Thanksgiving and Christmas because they will be here before you know it!

Ok, I guess that is it for now.  We have our first family Christmas on Saturday (crazy right??) so I guess I need to get out shopping today with Gabrielle wakes up :)
