Oliver is 4 months old now and doing great! He is still quite the laid back little baby most of the time. He likes attention, being held, naps, milk (straight from the tap), and sucking/chewing on his fingers. He also loves to look at his sister - his little mouth hangs open and his eyes get super wide when he's trying to figure out what she's doing. She can make him laugh so hard too....just when he's watching her he will start laughing hysterically. It's pretty funny.
- Oliver had his four month check up and things are good. He's meeting all his milestones (grasping objects, smiling, laughing, pushing up on his tummy, etc). I made some shrimp pasta last week and I noticed that the day after we had it Oliver's face broke out into a red, rough, raised rash. I told the pedi and she suggested that I avoid shellfish while nursing, and delaying the introduction of shellfish until he is 2-3. That's no good. He also has eczema on his head, so she wants us to use a steroid cream for a few days since she thinks it is irritating him.
Height - 25.5 inches (70th %)
Weight - 15 lbs 7 oz (52nd %)
Head - 17 inches (90th %)
So he's actually not that fat....just kind of big :)
He's 2.5 lbs heavier and 1.5 inches longer than Gabs at 4 months.
- Oliver rolled over for the first time (back to front) on February 18th - 3m 1w 5d old. Once he swung those big thighs up and got that belly going...he flopped right over. Twice. I was on the phone with my mom when he did it and Nick and Gabrielle were there too, so that was kind of nice.
- He has been grabbing, holding, and chewing on toys very well since right after he turned 3 months. He really likes bigger soft toys and crinkle books he can pick up. He is getting more interested in books and I can actually sit and read books to him, with him actually paying attention.
- Has been laughing since he turned 3 months. We get him to laugh by tickling his neck or thighs, bouncing him around, or scaring him - he thinks its hilarious when we yell "boo!" in his face.
- Usually takes 3 naps a day; about 9:30a, 12:30p, and one later in the afternoon/evening. Usually up about 7:30 and to sleep by about 9:00. He still wakes 2-3 times a night to eat.
- Takes a bottle!!! Woot! Definitely the biggest accomplishment this month, in my opinion. Lansinoh mOmma bottle - spread the word to any BF babies having bottle trouble. He regressed a bit after his bout with RSV but is back to taking them quite well.
- Is quite vocal and loves to coo/talk/sing in his little man voice.
- He uses his little abs to pull himself to sitting when he is reclined on our laps. Beginning to be able to sit unassisted when he's on our laps - we'll see if he sits up relatively early like Gabs did.
- Still doesn't love tummy time, but can hold his head up at a good 45-90 degree angle.
- Is in all 3-6/6 month clothes, and a few 6-9 month pieces. I'm hoping to be able to use our box of size 2 diapers before his little tush demands size 3.
- He still likes to suck on his fist (we've given up on him being a paci baby....tear), and he sucks his thumb and first finger together a lot.
- He likes to coo and "talk" a lot. He coos along with books being read or song sung.
- He is a cuddle bug. He will wake up early crying sometimes and not want to eat - just want to be held. He'll fall asleep instantly once I pick him up. Such a sweetie.
- He was wanting to sleep on his side for a couple of weeks but now he just likes to sleep on his fuzzy square blanket. Cotton sheets are no good for this sensitive baby boy.
- He loves to look at himself and me in the mirror. Instant big smiles and flailing arms.
Playing with toys!
He loves reading his Superman books
Someone else who loves my iPhone :)
This is about 6:15am when he decided he needed to be held for the duration of his sleep....
Where do we put the groceries?
Mmmm....thumb and first finger....
