Oliver - 5 Months

Oliver is five months old now and has changed quite a bit in the last month. 

• The biggest thing is he started sitting up this month.  Obviously, he's not great at it yet but we can sit him up and he can balance himself for a bit. 
• He's gotten a bit fussier/high maintenance this month.  He likes to be sitting up with everyone else, playing with toys, and interacting with people.  Which is good.  But he is fussier because of this if he set him somewhere to "play independently". 
• He's become quite grabby and will swat at or grasp anything within reach. 
• He like to feel and scratch his head, grab his ears, and pull up his pant legs.
• He's still exclusively breastfed and it's going great.  We've definitely hit the easy phase of nursing which is wonderful.  Even though he still eats every two hours or so he's pretty quick and efficient - eats in about 5-10 minutes.  In the past month he's become a distracted eater though, so I really try to feed in a quiet spot.  He also doesn't like his cover anymore which is very annoying - he thinks is so fun to kick his legs really hard, grab the cover, and throw it over his head....kind of defeats the purpose.  I didn't mind nursing him pretty much anywhere with the cover, but without?  That makes it hard.
• We will start oatmeal and veggies next month when he turns six months. He's had the smallest taste of vanilla ice cream and a taste of sweet potato at Easter so far :) 
• Still wakes 2-3 times a night to eat....much to my disdain.  I can deal with twice a night....its the 3+ nights that get me.  Usually takes 3 naps a day still.
• Is in about 2/3's six month and 1/3 nine month clothes.....but getting bigger every day.  Moved up to size 3 diapers.
• Loves to suck and chew on this fists/fingers/thumb.
• Loves to have people talk to him and watches his sister constantly.
• Hasn't rolled over since the two times he did it at 3 months old.  Oh well.  I guess I should put him on tummy time more :/
• Poor guy has lots of eczema patches on this head and the backs of his knees.  He also got another little cold and has had a lingering cough and wheezing.

Gabi has become quite the photographer with my point and shoot.  We are her favorite subjects and I get some pictures with my boy!

He loves his sister.  I tell Gabs that she's his best friend.  She loves hearing that :)
