We went back to the allergist for a follow up to OMax's original diagnosis. The doctor went over his skin and blood tests and gave us a guess to his reactions and future.
Dairy and peanut were mild-moderate on both skin and blood. She is hoping he will outgrow the dairy at some point and possibly even the peanut. She is guessing he would not be anaphylactic to these if he ate them. But still should not have them at all. He had such a strong skin reaction from me though my milk, that there is definitely an allergy. As long as I'm not eating this stuff his skin is totally clear. I had [two] pieces of cake which I assume were made with milk and butter. The next day he had a rash all down the backs of his legs and some on his face.
Cashew and pistachio were both severe and she is guessing he would be anaphylactic to these and not outgrow them.
Shellfish were moderate-severe and based on his distinct severe skin reaction when I ate shrimp once she is guessing that he would be anaphylactic and not outgrow it. Shellfish is typically a lifelong allergy and it's actually common to develop it in adulthood - not outgrow it.
She doesn't want to see him again for a year, until he is close to two. Then she will redo the skin and blood tests to see what they say - based on that she might do a food challenge with milk and/or peanut if his numbers have improved.
So until age two, no dairy [in any form], nuts, peanuts, or shellfish. He will probably never eat shellfish, cashews, or pistachios but maybe someday we can at least add in some dairy (the hardest allergy in my opinion!).
