Oliver - 10 Months

Wow, this month really snuck up on me!  I guess I don't have a lot to put up this month.

-I found Oliver waking up on his tummy in his crib for the first time ever a few days ago.  He has been a tummy sleeper since then.  Oh my, wouldn't it be nice if he liked to sleep that way and slept better?

-Starting to put a small effort into getting mobile and has made some strides in the past week.  He can for REAL roll both ways well now.  He even barrel rolled across part of the room yesterday to get to toys.  Still loves to stand at stuff and is getting a lot more stable -  he is starting to take the littlest cruising steps once and while when we stand him at things.    He likes to walk holding our hands.  He started being able to pivot himself in a circle while sitting on his bottom.  He is willing and able to go from sitting, over down to his tummy to reach things he wants.  I take them (now just him since Gabi is in school at the time) to Early On playgroup.  They have teachers and therapists there that play with the "normal" kids and they also have some special needs kids mixed in.  Well, the teacher did an assessment on Oliver's gross motor skills today (taking into account his new "accomplishments") and he is at the level of an 8.5 month old.  She said he is going through all the little developmental milestones for gross motor that he should be, just a little bit slower.

-Found some food he really likes - spaghetti and mashed potatoes & meat loaf.  Of course he only eats what I make (potatoes with soy milk and oil "butter", etc) but loved it.  He still isn't doing awesome with food, but trying lots of things at least.  Lately he likes watermelon, soy yogurt, and applesauce.  He likes to throw things, so he also came up with the bad habit of throwing his food pieces on the floor when he's done or he doesn't like it.  Which is pretty often.  And he learned how to shake his head "no" so that's very helpful as well...

-Trying to cut down his nursing sessions to 4x/day, in hopes of getting him to eat a bit more.  The past week he's been only getting up 1x/night.  1-3x is still "normal" though.

-Transitioned to a convertible carseat this month.

-Plays peekaboo by himself.

-Changed his schedule a bit, so naps a longer nap at about 11:30am, then will go back down around 4 for a shorter nap.  Bed at 8 and wakes around 7 usually.

-Still quite vocal.  Likes to say "go" now.  He will repeat noises of the words I say - night (ny), dog (duh), mom (mum), all done (ah da), close (co), ball (ba), etc.

-I will be starting sleep training soon, unless he sticks with this 1x/night wakings.  He needs to learn to sleep better for everyone's sake, and I think eating less at night will also help increase his eating during the day.  I never had to "teach" Gabs any of this stuff, but Oliver needs a little guidance.

-In mostly all 12 month clothes.
