Gabrielle Sophia is 5!

Gabrielle Sophia is 5 years old!  She is turning into such a little lady - she definitely has her likes/dislikes and special interests.
  •   Is getting very sensitive to how people look.  She wants blonde hair, and she was brushing her teeth one night looking in the mirror and was crying that she wanted white hair like Oliver and not brown hair.  She also wants to inquire about contacts at her next ophthalmologist visit in January.  Contacts are probably preferred for her eyes, it just depends when she can/wants to handle them.
  •  She can quite mean to younger kids or lots of kids her own age that may not be her first choice of friends - she much prefers older girl friends.  She didn't like watching the toddler dances in her recital - she wanted to skip those because "they don't even point their toes when they lift up their leg....."
THOUGH - I always hear about Gavin at her school....well I finally met Gavin and he is a 3 year old boy.  Who would have ever thought that would have been one of her best friends....a much younger kid and a boy.
  • Her best friend at school is Grace, her best friend otherwise is Kaylyn, her best friend she doesn't get to see much but still talks about is Olivia VJ and Faith.
  •  We say a prayer to her guardian angel each night so she doesn't have bad dreams.
  • She likes to wear two shirts or a tank underneath her shirt "like mommy".
  • Asks intelligent questions like "how did they make tools when there were no tools?" or "how did people come when there were only dinosaurs" and is usually very thoughtful.
  • She loves science - anything about health, bugs, animals, nature, chemistry, etc.
  • She wants to be a dentist when she grows up.
  • Her favorite colors are pink, LIGHT purple, gold, silver, and black.  Least favorite colors are green, brown, and orange.
  • She really likes bible stories and loves going to chapel every Thursday at preschool.  She always remembers the lesson and can tell me about it.
  • She still loves her blanket, yellow B.  She sleeps with"her" (since she is a person) every night.
  • We are starting to try and give her an allowance, but she still isn't really grasping the concept of money - she'll say "I don't care, I already have tons of money.  I don't need any more". haha....
  • She likes watching Curious George, and that's typically all she watches.  She watches her recital videos, Frozen, The Incredibles, Cinderella, Epic, and other movies on the weekends sometimes.
  • Is really into ready Bernstein Bear books.
  • Is still small but proportionate - 39.5 inches (around the 5th percentile) and 34 pounds clothed (around the 9th percentile) at 5 years old.
  • She likes to wears clothes from the girls department more that the toddler department now.  She wears either 4t or 5t in toddler or XS 4-5 in girls.
  • Is in her 3rd year of preschool and will start kindergarten next fall.  She is somewhat bored yet overstimulated in her large (sometimes crazy....) preschool class.  I think she will be more than ready for kindergarten in the fall (hopefully).
  • Is in dance again this year at a new studio in town.  She is taking 45 minutes of ballet and 45 minutes of tap back-to-back.  She is also starting gymnastics again but at a new gym closer to us.  She has been bugging me to do gymnastics again for months - we pulled her from her old gym while we were moving last spring.  Now she is going to Twistars and she LOVED her first class!
  • She is very interested in anything flashy, feminine, and grown-up....we frequently have to tame her back to 5 years old haha.
  • She sang at church with her preschool class in November and did well...it was so cute to see :)
  • This year for Halloween she wanted to be a peacock - such a cute original idea I thought...every other girl in the world was Elsa.
  • She can write basically all of her letters, but we are still working on both upper and lower case.  She is doing some simple addition/subtraction and starting to recognize sight words and sound words out.
  • For her birthday (and Christmas) she wanted "real ice powers" for her present.  Ummm.....we had talks about that but ultimately that is what she would really like....
  • She wrote her first "word" from her little head by herself just before turning 5.  She drew a picture of Aunt Caresse very pregnant and wrote "BBE" at the top as she wanted to write baby.
  • She is still rather well-behaved, you can reason with her, is mature yet quite sensitive.  She'll tell me "mommy, I just love you so much I never want to lose you".  So cute :)
She had her 5th birthday part at home in our new basement - Frozen theme of course!!  There weren't a large amount of girls that could attend, but most of her very favorite special friends that she doesn't get to see much came which was so special.  I didn't tell her anyone that was coming, so each time another friend came to the door she was thrilled!

For her birthday, we got her an Anna dress (her favorite gift), a pretty dance bag with her name on it, a new leotard, and a Hello Kitty Chia Pet.  Her friends got her lots of princess toys!

We did cupcake decorating last year too, but it was such a hit she wanted to do it again.

Both Grandma's came this year to be "Fairy Grandmothers"

Embarrassing her with pictures....
She's always wanted a pinata so this was a fun surprise

All of the Elsa's!

The snowball throw (throwing a plastic balls as stacked Solo cups) was a last minute no-cost idea and it actually was a ton of fun for the girls.

Playing with fabric

One of her favorite things - playing with flour, sugar, oatmeal, etc

We finally got around to getting her worm house set up.  We weren't really successful at being able to see the worm much...

Grandma Billie took her shopping and let her pick out her birthday present - she chose a dog that can walk by itself

We went to the parade down town this fall and she was so excited to wear the outfit Grandma Jojo got her - she looks so grown up!

First day of dance 2014-2015

The girls got glow sticks at a fire this fall
