We still have a little bobble-head baby!

Gabrielle had her 4 month pediatrician checkup yesterday and we still have a little bobble-head baby!

Weight - 13lbs 1oz (35th percentile)
Height - 24 inches (37th percentile)
Head Circumference - 42.6 cm (86th percentile)

Her weight and height are very proportional, but she still has a big head.... At least she is staying right on "her" growth curve. Her 2 month measurements were very similar to this. The rest of her doctor appointment went very well. She is hitting all of the milestones that they were looking for (reaching for/grasping objects, cooing, rolling, standing with assistance, smiling, etc). She gets to start eating solids today! Oh my goodness! We are going to mix some rice cereal in with her formula and feed her with a spoon. Wish us luck. Since Gabi's weight is very good her height, the cereal is more for eating practice than for nutrition. Formula will still be her main food source, but the doctor says if she likes eating the cereal we can give it to her two or three times a day and if she is having trouble we can just stick to once a day for a while. She also told us we can start "first foods" (some veggies) in a month or two.

The doc looked in her mouth and didn't see any teeth (obviously) but said that they could be in soon or it could four or more months before one comes in. Gabi had a SEVERE crying fit on Tuesday. I mean constant screaming, snot flying, red face, shaking arms. This wasn't just because she was irritable or constipated - there was something wrong. We were at Nick's parents' house for Jason's birthday dinner (poor Jason) when this happened and Nick's mom had baby Tylenol and Mistye had baby Orajel. After about two hours of this screaming we didn't know what was wrong or what to do so we gave her both Tylenol and Orajel and she basically stopped crying within minutes and was back to sitting contently and smiling. Wow. I'm not big on medicine if it isn't really needed (Gabi had never had type of medicine before), so we didn't even own any baby Tylenol let alone have any with us in the diaper bag.

New mommy lesson: take baby Tylenol (and baby Orajel) with you at all times.

Gabi has also had a very clear, watery runny nose and watery eyes this past week. Her doc said it was very very unlikely that a four month old would have seasonal allergies already, and thought it was most likely a teething/pre-teething symptom. I guess little Gabs is just extra sensitive to this teething stuff. What a surprise - not :)
