She calmed down relatively quick and we checked her arms, legs, and head to see if anything looked hurt. She looked good and was calmed down so we put her in the tub for a bath before bed. Well, when she got in the tub as soon as she leaned over to crawl towards a toy she just screamed and screamed. We figured out it was her right wrist that was swollen and she couldn't put any weight on it or bend it without lots of pain (i.e. screaming).
We didn't know if she sprained it or broke it, so we went to the Peds ER. Luckily they have an entirely separate Peds ER so we didn't have to wait with the city's finest citizens in the regular ER on a Friday night. There really wasn't a wait for the kids and we got in quick. We were still in the ER for about three hours, but everyone was really nice and things got taken care of. She didn't like her blood pressure being taken at all and they never even got a reading because she was moving so much. She weighed in a 21 lbs with PJs and diaper on so she definitely hasn't bulked up at all since her her 15 month check up. We went through a med history with the nurse and Gabi has no allergies, no medical problems, on no medications, and hasn't even ever had an ear infection. She's pretty healthy minus this break!
Gabbers was rather friendly with everyone and in good spirits as long as no one was messing with her. She had several different xrays taken and that wasn't very fun or easy. They had three xray techs and me helping with positioning, but it went as well as could be expected. It was getting really late and Gabs was just so tired. Finally the doctor came back and said that she broke her wrist. It wasn't too bad (they said a buckle fracture) and it didn't need to be set. At first they were thinking she would need a splint or cast for about four weeks, but later they determined she would need a cast but only for an estimated 1-2 weeks. Our sweet babe finally got her pink cast put on which she really didn't like. She was exhausted and I basically held her up the whole time they were putting it on. They also gave her a sling that she is supposed to wear....but the x-small they gave her is still gigantic and isn't very functional.
She woke up this morning not very happy but seemed to adjust to her cast ok. She can't color, play with my old Blackberry, or drink from a cup herself but hopefully she'll be free soon. I have to make an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon on Monday for a week from now to do follow up xrays and figure out when her cast can come off.
And no, we weren't accused of child abuse in the ER thankfully! I guess we must have looked like upstanding citizens, haha.
The photos are from a mix of phone, point and shoot, and DSLR so don't mind the random quality.
Little Gabrielle in our ER room trying to keep busy before her xrays.
About 11pm. Resting with Dad after she got her cast on (she has she sling on too). Waiting for discharge papers and getting ready to leave.

Poor Gabi! Caresse told me about her little broken wrist. Hope she heals quickly!
Oh so sorry for gabbi,
that is tough to deal with as a youngster her age. At least she has a smile for the camera at the end there.
