She's going to be petite...

Gabrielle went in for her weight check follow up since she lost weight at her 18 month appointment.  Well, Gabi gained 8 ounces in about a month....but that was just enough to keep her in the 6th percentile for weight at 19 months :/  She grew a half inch so she was 32 inches (48th %) and 21 lb 4 oz (6th %).  The doctor ended up seeing her and doing a full physical - everything appears normal, healthy, and great.  She has to get some blood work to check iron, thyroid, and few other basic things to be sure nothing is off track, but that's it.  The doc said she just might be on a new growth curve - she just might be showing that she really will be petite.  Who knows.  She stayed freakishly steady around the 25th % her whole life, and then suddenly dropped to the 6th.  Hopefully there's no good reason.

I told the doctor my list of explanations and she seemed to think they made sense.
-Suddenly Gabs won't eat peanut butter, yogurt, or bananas anymore to name a few.
-She is a very active child.  She doesn't watch TV, and doesn't sit and play with toys for more than a few minutes a day.
-To add on to that...she walks laps outside around our block for fun.  I think she would push her baby stroller around the block and play on her play structure all day if we let her.

So there you have it.  I'm sure she's fine. Just "skinny".  Ha!  You would never tell from looking at her that she is "underweight".  She's perfectly plump!  On her lab slip the diagnosis said "FTT".  Failure to thrive.  I know they have to put a diagnosis, but really??

And Gabrielle got a new Tinkerbell cup.  She likes to drink milk out of straws.  Ok.  She picked out a Tinkerbell cup....it was $6!  Goodness.
