Labor Day

We had a busy but uneventful Labor Day weekend...if that makes sense?  Nick had volleyball on Friday - they were late games so Gabi and I didn't go.  Saturday we packed up and headed to the lake house for the weekend.  Nick, Gabrielle, me, the two dogs and all the luggage actually fit in our Vue for the first time!  We usually end up taking two cars to the lake for various reasons, so I think this was the first time we all went together.  Jason and Corinne went to see Corinne's family, and we didn't really invite any friends just because everyone is always so busy on Labor Day that we didn't even bother.  The weather was quite chilly [about 60 at best].  It was just the three of us and Nick's parents at the lake so it was pretty low key.  Billie made Nick a big delicious birthday dinner of fried walleye, macaroni and cheese, fried zucchini, and bread.....and then a dutch apple pie made by his Aunt Beth.  Mmm mmm good.  We saw Great Grandma and Grandpa Taylor, and Mistye and Landyn that day too.

The next day Billie and I made a quick trip up to Grand Rapids to shop at Target for the babies.  Gabi girl has been having issues with her pajamas lately....those big one-piece footy type PJs are either way too big and bunch up and trip her, or they're way too small and come all unsnapped....and the cloth feet always make her slip and fall now that she is cruising.  So, I thought it was time to search for some big girl jammies...the separate shirt and pant sets.  We found some really cute sets at Target and they worked great last night :)  Since they're cotton separates, the 12 month size actually fits her pretty well now, but will be able to grow with her better and last her quite a few months too.

That afternoon we had a nice cocktail hour and then Nick's parents, my parents, and Nick, Gabi, and I went out for pizza together.  We all actually had a really good time and went over for dessert at my parents afterwards.  Nick's mom got to show off her new sun porch and my mom got to show off her new kitchen :)

It was a nice weekend and Nick had a happy birthday!

This next picture is especially bad, but Gabi would hang on the the table and then let go and just stand by herself for about four seconds, and then either grab back on or sit down. I caught this while she was standing all by herself!

I'll leave you with a couple of pictures of Gabi doing her weird "heavy breathing through the nose" thing that she does.  Haha, it makes me laugh just looking at these!  And a little video of Gabi's cool new "da da" verbal skills :)
