I realized that I have rambled on about several issues lately and that it was time for a follow up. First on the list - sleep. I forgot about this one because she is such a great sleeper! It is common practice now for her to sleep straight through the night every night. She goes down about 9pm and is up between 7:00 and 7:30am. She sleeps with the swaddle around her body (arms free), her blanket square, and pacifier [Note to Grandma J if you're reading this - we could use another blanket square to keep in the diaper bag so I don't have to $&*!#%#!&* under my breath when we get somewhere and I realize I have forgotten it].
We started Gabrielle's third vegetable yesterday - peas! She happily ate the whole container of peas like it was nothing. She's just a little eating machine. I actually suspect she may have a harder time with fruits, but just wait and have her prove me wrong.
I tried to be a good mother and put sunscreen on the babe a couple of days ago when I took her outside with me while I pulled weeds in the garden. Yeah, I don't think her and sunscreen got along...the rashes on her face and neck got pretty bad again. I steroids she took last week for her rash cleared it up quite a bit, but it has still kind of been there. We'll have to address the issue again at Gabi's six month checkup next week.
Miss Gabrielle may be working on a tooth?? She has been kind of drippy/sinusy the past few days but has actually chewed on her teether toys a bit. I think she may have a touch of a cold but Nick thinks she's getting a tooth. Either way it sure is a fun time for the parents ;)
So, I did a little experiment yesterday and it failed miserably...but there were a few variables. I tried taking Gabi grocery shopping and just letting her sit in the cart by herself instead of putting her whole carseat in the cart. Well, I put her in the cart and she is having a grand old time and charming everyone who walks by. Then she wants to play with my shopping list. She grabs it, gives herself a paper cut (I think), takes a giant poo, and starts screaming uncontrollably. Of course her pacifier clip fell off in car so I don't even have a hope of calming her down...but that doesn't even really matter because there is poop everywhere too. Time to leave! I rush through the self checkout to pay for the few things I managed to get in my cart before the meltdown occurred all while Gabi is silent screaming in the cart [silent scream: when she is so mad that no sound comes out for about 10 seconds while she is screaming...she just turns bright red, mouth opens, arms shake and then the sound follows a few seconds later]. All I got were looks of pity and strangers trying to calm her down. I thank them but tell them it's no use. When she's that upset no amount of talking will calm her down. We leave the store with Gabi still screaming and say goodbye to the greeter that greeted us only a few minutes before.
And on a final note, what is up with companies that make items for babies?? Within a few days our crib was recalled and so was the baby Tylenol. If you're a company that makes things for BABIES, please get it right THE FIRST TIME! That's all I have to say about that.
